Hello everyone! And Happy Christmas, New Year, end of February and whatever else you can think about!


Cómo podrán no he publicado nada desde Diciembre (creo?) pero bueno, he andado medio enferma últimamente, con problemas de presión, dolor de cabeza y sobre todo una fatiga increíble, (podría ser un caso de estrés medio fuerte), que nomás no me deja funcionar correctamente, ni trabajo, ni tejido, ni ejercicio, nada... de ahí mi ausencia en estos lares.
As you can see I haven't post here since December (I think?), and the reason it's that I've been having some health problems, tension, headaches and a terrible fatigue, (it may be just real, big, stress), that doesn't let me function very well, not work, not knitting, not exercise, not nothing, therefore my absence here.


Tengo un par de proyectos en las agujas, así que voy a intentar tejer para poder escribir aquí y así obligarme a hacer algo, pero no prometo escribir muy seguido, sólo espero escribir antes de que pasen otros 2 meses :)
I have a couple of projects on the needles and I'll try to force myself to knit on them so I have something to tell here, but let's see how that work out.

owls!

Ya terminé mi owls! Desgraciadamente, entre que no tengo un tripié (ni siquiera el pequeñito me traje, soy un caso!), y la pésima luz en mi cuarto, no pude tomar una buena foto con photo boot:

Les prometo que esa fue la mejor de como 40 que tomé... Regresando a México y ya con mi tripié, ya que no creo poder convencer a mi fotógrafo oficial de OT para una sesión en diciembre, tratare de tomar una mejor foto. Lo importante es que ya está listo!! Creo que igual está un poco grande de la cintura pero me niego a retejerlo como quedó quedó :D

I swear that was the best photo of about 40... When I get back to México, and because I don't think I will be able to convince my official FO photographer to a December photo shoot, I'll take a better picture with my tripod. The important thing is that I have a new sweater! I think the waist is still a little big but I don't care, it's done :D

Bananas

Estoy impactada. Acabo de comprar los plátanos dominicos más caros de mi vida, 42 pesos (2.19€) por 4 platanitos! Supongo que es la diferencia entre estar en un país productor (país bananero! je) y uno que los importa. Más les vale que estén buenos...

I've just bought the most expensive baby bananas, 3 usd (2.19€) for 4 bananas! I guess this is the difference between being in a country that produces them and a one that import them, they better be good...

No he podido deshacer el sweater, tal vez más tarde?? antes de dormir? quién sabe, lo más seguro es que hasta el jueves pueda dedicarle un poco más de tiempo, así que por hoy sólo una foto prueba de que hoy tejí la maravillosa cantidad de 3 vueltas en la oficina:

I haven't been able of ripping the sweater, maybe later before going to bed, but most probably I'll have time until Thursday so for today I only have a photo proof that I knitted today at the office for about 3 rows:

Frog, frog, rip!

Venía yo a enseñarles que ya había empezado a tejer los buhitos cuándo me di cuenta que uní mal las mangas y ahora tengo que deshacer las últimas 5 vueltas. Al menos ahora si le tomé foto antes de deshacerlo.

I was going to show you that I was starting the owls, but I realized that I joined wrong the sleeves, so now I have to rip the last 5 rows. At least I have photographic evidence of my advance before ripping it.

Ya será mañana, hoy me caigo de sueño, despertarme a las 6:30 am definitivamente no es lo mío...

I'll have to rip it tomorrow, now I have to sleep, waking up at 6:30 am it's really not my thing...

Galette

Tenía por ahí un par de peras que ya no estaban muy buenas, y cómo odio tirar la comida pues tenía que pensar en algo para usarlas. En mi casa usualmente la comida en este estado (y peor!) se iba para unos patos/pollos amigos de mi madre, pero aquí es tirar o comer, así que hice una galette con las peras y una manzana.

I had a couple of pears that have seen better days and I hate throwing out food, back at home the food would go to a couple of chickens/ducks that my mother know, but here it's either throw it to the trash or eat it, so I made a galette with the pears and a apple.

El plan original era hacer empanas con la pasta hojaldre, pero al final me ganó la flojera, así que terminé haciendo una galette. Por floja tampoco le puse su baño de huevo así que no se doró bonito, encima de todo los jugos de la fruta se quemaron un poco y en el pedazo que me comí sentí un sabor medio raro de la pera. Le voy a dar otra oportunidad y espero que no la tenga que tirar...

The original plan was to made some empanadas with the puff pastry but at the end I was lazy, so a galette was the perfect option. I didn't make a egg wash (lazy!) so it didn't got golden at top and the juices of the fruit got a little burned, and in the piece I eat the pears tasted a little iffy, so I'm going to taste it again and hope for the best. Otherwise I'll end throwing the galette.

Acerca de mi owls ya uní las mangas pero como el cable es muy corto, pues no me lo puedo probar, así que ahora tengo que terminar el sweater antes de ver si me queda o no, ésta es la parte que no me gusta! Fotos del sweater mañana.

In owl's news I have joined the sleeves but as I can't try it on (the cable is too short), I have to finish the knitting to see if it fits. I hate this waiting part. Pictures of the sweater tomorrow.

Alpaca azul!

Hoy sólo traigo la foto de la lana que compré ayer. Es Drops Alpaca en un color azul-verdoso-turquesa que no es sólido sino medio mixto, me encantó y la verdad no le pude hacer justicia en foto.

Today I only bring the picture of the yarn I bought yesterday. It's a skein of Drops Alpaca in color mixed, not solid, of blue-green-turquoise, I really really liked and the photo doesn't picture it very well.

Hoy había una especie de feria del otoño aquí en el pueblo pero no había mucho, más bien varias ONG's estaban ahí para platicar un poco de sus actividades, aún así conseguí la canastita que se ve en la foto, y un par de cosas que son secretas y por lo tanto no puedo mostrar! La canasta es para poder medio arreglar el desastre que tenía con mis aretes, ligas para el pelo y navaja suiza.

Today there was a kind of autumn festival here in town, mostly ONG's presenting their work, but I found the little basket in the picture, which is now helping with all my hair ties, earrings and swiss knife.


El sweater ya está casi listo para unir las mangas, así que tal vez mañana lo pueda hacer!

La boquería

Antes de que me despertara ayer con el dolor de cabeza marca diablo, mi plan era escaparme la mañana e ir a La Boquería, un mercado en Barcelona, y me prometí que si hoy no me dolía iba, cómo desperté con una sombra de dolor pues me lancé! Les advierto que hay muchas fotos en este post.

Before the big headache from yesterday my plan was to go to La Boquería, a big market in Barcelona, and I vowed to myself that if today I didn't have it I would go, so I went! Lot of pictures to come.

Lo malo es que se me estaba terminando las pilas en la Boquería así que no tomé tantas fotos como hubiese querido, pero bueno ya será para la próxima :)

The bad thing is that my camera batteries were dying inside of la Boquería so I didn't took all the pictures I wanted to...

El letrero en la entrada al mercado, estaban poniendo un árbol de navidad muy mono, después le tomo foto.

First, the sign on the access to the market, they were putting a big Christmas tree, I'll be back to take a picture.

 

Cómo se podrán dar cuenta la mayoría de las fotos es de frutas/verduras, la verdad es que se me estaba haciendo agua la boca, casi no he comido verduras frescas acá, y hoy me di cuenta que extraño eso, el problema es que en el super dónde hago el mandado casi no hay frutas/verduras, quiero ver si mañana voy al mercado aquí en Sant Cugat (dónde me estoy quedando) a ver que encuentro.

As you can see almost all the pictures are of veggies/fruit, today at the market I realized that I miss eating more fresh veggies, the problem it's that in the supermarket I buy the food doesn't sell a lot of veggies/fruit, so I'll try to go to the local market tomorrow and see what I can found.

 

En la segunda foto, en la izquierda son chiles serranos! Al menos ya se donde los puedo conseguir para cocinar, y los otros chiles son tailandeses, se supone que pican mucho.

In the second picture there is a chile we use a lot in Mexico for cooking so at least I know now where to found it :)

 

Esta es la época de los hongos, y había un par de puestos en dónde sólo había hongos, quería yo comprar de todos pero como todavía iba a caminar pues no podía comprar nada que se pudiera echar a perder con el calor :(

Y bueno, cómo se podrán imaginar en todo el mercado hay muchísimos puestos con embutidos y jamón serrano, admito que también en estos puestos se me hacía agua la boca! Y aquí si compré algo, una morcilla y un pedazo de chorizo :)

This is the season of mushrooms, so in the market there were some vendors that had a lot, I really wanted to buy something but I was going to walk and couldn't buy anything that will suffer in the heat so no mushrooms for me :(

And yes, there are a lot of Jamón Serrano and things like that, I also wanted to buy something from them!

 

Estas fotos no son de la Boquería, son de otro mercado que se llama Santa Caterina (después que compré pilas para la cámara), aquí lo que más me gustó es este puesto con una sección especial para el bacalao seco, ya quiero que sea navidad para comerlo! Y bueno, los puestos de quesos, que les cuento pues que todo se ve buenísimo pero de nuevo no pude comprar nada.

This last couple of pictures are not from la Boquería but from another market Santa Caterina, (after I bought batteries), there is a vendor that sells almost only dry cod! The cheese vendors are all very well presented and I also wanted to buy but well...

Pasé a All you knit is love por unas puntas que necesito para tejer lo que compré la semana pasada y una madejita se echó a la compra, ahí se las muestro mañana!

I also went to All you knit is love to buy a needle I need, and a little skein jumped into my hands, I'll show it tomorrow!

Headache

Hoy he tenido el peor dolor de cabeza en meses, estoy en la semi-obscuridad y la computadora está prácticamente sin luz en la pantalla. Lo peor es la soledad, quiero un abrazo.

Today I've been having the worst headache in months, I'm almost in the darkness and the laptop screen os very dark. The worst is that I'm alone, and I want a hug.

Avances

Lo bueno de leer un pedazo de un artículo y de un libro es que uno puede tejer y tejer en punto jersey sin fijarse mucho en lo que se está haciendo. Todavía me faltan unos 10-12 cm antes de poder unir las mangas, pero ya veo el final más cerca!!

The good thing about reading a little about a paper and a book it's that I can knit and knit in st st without having to look at the knitting a lot. I still have about 4 in more to knit but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel :D

¿Recuerdan la escena en dónde Jack está sentado escribe y escribe en la máquina de escribir y resulta que todo lo que ha escrito es una sola frase por páginas y páginas y páginas?

Así me he sentido últimamente.

That's how I've been feeling lately.

Malabrigo lace

Hoy aproveché que había un poco más de luz (y no lluvia!) en la mañana para poder tomar fotos de mi mini botín ayer.  Primero una madeja amarilla,en realidad tiene más tonos naranjas pero no pude captarlos muy bien:

Today we have light and no rain in the morning, so I took some photos of my little loot. First a yellow skein that actualy have more orange tones but I couldn't capture those very well:

Sauterne

El color se llama Sauterne y es un tono muy alegre, estaba entre este y un rojo rojo, pero al final me decidí por el amarillo. Esta madeja es para tejerle algo a mi mamá de su cumpleaños, y se aceptan sugerencias de chales bonitos y que luzcan que sólo necesiten ~430 m.

The color is named Sauterne and is a very happy color. I was between this one and a red one but at the end this color called to me. This one is for my mother, and I'm looking for pretty and impressive patterns that uses only 430 m of yarn, so any advice is helpful!

Mi segunda madeja es mucho menos brillante:

SFO Sky

Es una mezcla de grises, sin llegar nunca al negro. Desde hace algún tiempo tenía ganas de tejerme algo que no fuera taan colorido, digo me encanta andar de colores, y no siempre combino, pero a veces es necesario tener algo que sea un poco más serio  y si voy a tener que usar algo así, prefiero que sea algo que yo tejí y no algo comprado, al menos así tiene un aspecto especial :D

Its a combination of greys, without black. I've been meaning to knit something to myself not very colorful, I mean, I love wearing colors and not always those colors look well together but sometimes one needs something a little more serious. So if I have to wear something like that I prefer if it's something knitted by me!

Con respecto a mi sweater, este es su nuevo estado:
Finally, this is the status of my owls sweater:

Aunque ahora tiene unas 10 vueltas más, pero aún sigo en el resorte. Espero esta semana tener oportunidad de tejer un poquito más, quiero estrenar mi sweater aquí!

Although now is about 10 rows longer but still only ribbing. Hopefully this week I can knit a little more, I want to use it here for the first time!

Soy Sauce, Ramen and Noodles!!

Hoy finalmente me decidí en ir a Barcelona al supermercado asiático, así que agarré mi abrigo, mi paraguas (por si las dudas), mis calcetines de lana (hacen una gran diferencia en el frío húmedo!) y salí a la calle, sólo para bajarme del tren y darme cuenta de que en Barcelona estaba medio diluviando, así que que bueno que agarré el paraguas.

Today I finally decided to go to Barcelona to the asian supermarket, so I grab my coat, mi umbrella (just in case), my wool socks (big difference on the cold wet weather), and took the train, just to realize when I got out that in Barcelona was raining hard, so it's a good thing I had my umbrella with me.

Llevaba mi cámara pero entre el aire, que hizo que se me volteara el paraguas dos veces, y la lluvia no pude sacarla, un día de la semana que entra me voy a escapar para ir a Barcelona y turistear, ojalá no llueva y pueda tomar fotos...

I took my camera, but between the rain and the wind, I couldn't take it out. I'm planning on going all turisty one day next week so maybe I'll have photos by then :(

En fin, les presento mi botín:

No se como pero esa mini botella de Sriracha se metió a la canasta y no tuve el corazón para sacarla, es pequeñita!

I don't know how it happened but that bay Sriracha bottle jumped in my basket and couldn't take it out, it's so small!

También me pasé a una tienda de estambres que estaban inaugurando hoy, pero andaba toda cargada, mojada y con un sentimiento culpable de no estar trabajando, así que sólo compré dos madejitas de malabrigo lace que les enseñaré mañana y me salí. Espero regresar y tomar fotos para que la conozcan.

I also went to a new yarn store but I was cold, wet and carrying a lot so I only bought a couple of malabrigo lace skeins and went to the train station. I hope to go back and take some photos to show.

A veces lo que uno necesita es una cena de botaneo con una cervecita:

Y si a eso se le añade una buena platicadita, pizza, vino y escuchada de música con las que compartes la casa y una de sus amigas, mejor.
Esta cena me arregló la noche, estaba yo a punto de mandar todo al demonio y echarme en la cama a ver una película, pero creo que todo lo que necesitaba era socializar un poquito, tengo que recordar no encerrarme tanto en mi misma...

Add to that a good chat, pizza, wine and music with two of the roomies plus one friend of them, and it's better.
This dinner fixed my night, I was ready to just go to bed early and watching a movie, I think all I needed was socializing a little. I have to remember that I don't need to be by myself at all times, that sometimes I need to be with people...

A little bit of a sleeve

Aunque para ser sincera, es la segunda manga! no se porque se me olvidó que la ventaja de que el sweater sea en punto jersey es que puedo tejer y leer al mismo tiempo :)

But if I'm being honest with you, is the second sleeve! I don't know why I forgot that one of he advantages of knitting st st it's that I can knit and read at the same time :)

Así que ya voy más avanzada y a este ritmo voy a poder terminar la segunda manga pronto, así que tal vez mañana me tenga que enfrentar con la destrucción del cuerpo del sweater :(

If I keep knitting at this speed I may have to face the destruction of the sweater body tomorrow :(

En  mis planes estaba tejer media manga y poder escribir, avances! en el título pero no, la manga sigue en sus 15 vueltas, he estado leyendo y entre una y otra cosa pos no he tejido, pero al menos les puedo mostrar mi nueva taza navideña:

I had planned to knit at least half a sleeve so I could show it here but no, between reading and one thing or another well, lets just say that the sleeve is still 15 rows of ribbing, but at least I can show you my new christmas cup:

Tired

Hoy estoy demasiado cansada, de leer, de escribir y de pelear con un código, y hoy es el tercer día seguido en el que llueve, hace frío y apenas hemos visto el sol desde el sábado, así que no tengo fotos ni avances tejeriles. A menos de que cuenten como un avance las 15 vueltas de resorte que llevo en una manga, ayer decidí tejer primero las mangas para asegurarme de que me van a quedar, antes de tejer cuerpo+mangas y que las mangas no me queden y deshacerlo todo de nuevo. Hasta mañana!

I'm tired, very tired, I've been reading and writing and  fighting with a code, and today it's the third day on a row that rains and that the sun barely comes out, so no pictures and no knitting advances, unless you count 15 rows of sleeve ribbing as something, in which case let me tell you that I've decided to knit first the sleeves so I can be sure that they'll fit, otherwise I refuse to knit the body and have to rip it again. See you all tomorrow.

Disaster

Estaba ayer you muy feliz tejiendo el cuerpo de mi sweater cuándo empecé a notar que estaba un poquito grande, así que me lo probé y...

So i was happily knitting yesterday on my owls body when I started thinking, "mmm this sweater looks big", so I put it on and...

desastre / disaster

Sip, está muy grande, como 5 cm de más en un sweater que debería de quedar ajustado, así que ese ruido que escuchan es el sonido de como lo destejo :(

Yes, it's too big, about 2 in too big in a sweater that should have negative or at least no ease at all... so that thing you hear? it's the rip rip rip of my sweater :(


Y para aquellos que están en México, qué dicen las noticias? Siguen queriendo tapar el sol con un dedo??? Siguen con la hipótesis de "estaba muy nublado", que se las crea su abuela!
