Lana pa' Teñir / Yarn for Dyeing

Recuerdan que por ahí de Octubre les comenté que tenía planes para vender lana teñida a mano?, todo esto para apoyarme ya que como saben estoy tratando de terminar la maestría. Creo que nunca lo puse por acá pero en noviembre pedí unas lanas para calcetines que se las quedaron Elisol, Andrea y la última colibridreams (gracias chicas!!).

Ahora me acaban de llegar unas lanas tipo "lace", son 5 madejas de 100 gr/800m y la lana es 100% Supersoft British Bluefaced Leicester, una madeja completa es excelente para una estola o un chal triangular grande, con la mitad o un poco más salen uno de esos triángulos/bufandas que ahora se pusieron tanto de moda.

También tengo en camino 5 madejas de lana para calcetines, esas son 100gr/400m y es 75% lana superwash /25 % nylon, con estas salen un par de calcetines de adulto o un chal pequeño/mediano.

Back in october I decided to dye some skeins to sell, as I've said before I'm a grad student and now that I don't have scholarship this is a little help. In november I dyed some sock yarn that I never had time to put here in the blog, but some girls of our "monthly" knitting meeting bought them (thanks!).

Right now I have 5 skeins of lace yarn, 100gr/800m/875yd of 100% Supersoft British Bluefaced Leicester, a whole skein it's perfect to knit a stole or a large triangular shawl, I've also ordered 5 sock skeins (100gr/400m/437yd) which should arrive in about 2 weeks (post it's very slow right now).

El costo de las madejas es de 250 las lace y 200 las de calcetines, los colores pueden ser semi-sólidos o variegados, por ahora pienso pintar un par de las de lace semi-sólidas y dejar libres por si alguien quiere algún color en particular (nos podemos poner de acuerdo por mail o por ravelry). En cuánto lleguen las de calcetines yo les aviso, de esas una está apalabrada pero las otras están disponibles!

El único cargo extra sería el costo del correo en caso de que no vivan aquí en el df o no nos podamos poner de acuerdo para la entrega.

The cost of the skeins is 20 usd for the lace yarn and 16usd for the sock yarn, plus shipping, right now I'm thinking in dyeing a couple of lace skeins and leave the rest free if someone wants a specific color (semi-solid or variegated), as soon as I have the sock skeins in my hands I'll put it here. In case of someone wants one of this skeins please leave me here a message or pm me in ravelry.

Las lanas las pinto con pinturas no tóxicas y no se despintan ni al tejer ni al lavar, (he tejido con un par de lanas pintadas por mí y no he tenido problemas).

En este set de flickr tengo fotos de otras lanas que he pintado.

The yarns are dyed using non-toxic dyes and I've used them and haven't had problems of colors running either at the time of knitting or when washing.

In this flickr set I have photos of yarns that I handpainted.

Finalmente, aprovecho este espacio para declarar que voy a entrar a una dieta de lanas/agujas hasta que la situación económica se recupere un poco, la única excepción será en agujas que necesite para un proyecto en específico o que rompa el último par de 2.75 mm que me queda :)

Finally, I'd like to use this space to declare that I'm going into a needle/yarn diet until the money it's a little less tight, the only exception will be needle buying for a specific project or if i brake my last pair of 2.75mm needles.

Pointy and news

Primero que nada, ésta bufanda que empecé en marzo:

Se la terminé regalando a mi madre en su cumpleaños que fue la semana pasada, le gustó bastante así que valió la pena hacer el grafting después de 5 meses (me paso!).

I finished the grafting last week so I could give it to my mom in her birthday, she liked it so it was worth the 5 month wait.

Patrón/Pattern : mío, nada sofisticado / my own, nothing fancy (my rav)

Y finalmente es que estoy cambiando el blog a wordpress, por el momento voy a estar publicando en los dos, y después voy a ver cómo redirigir el tráfico de aquí para allá (claro, voy a andar pidiendo ayuda), la dirección es la misma sólo en lugar de blogspot es wordpress.

Está feíto y todo, no espero ponerlo guapo hasta enero o algo así sólo quería irles comentando.

And I'm trying to migrate the blog to wordpress, at the momento I'll be publishing in both blogs, then I'm going to see if I can move the traffic from here to there, the url it's the same with wordpress instead of blogspot.

Swatch day

Primero que nada, gracias Elisol y Cecilia, finalmente creo que voy a hacer la "Scarf for Ally",  creo que puede quedar no tan peque, todavía no la empiezo pero a ver...

Hoy hice esas temidas muestras, que como son necesarias pero argh, cómo es pesado hacerlas no?

Today I knit 2 of those swatches so necessary but so boring to do...

La primera es para el  Turbulence U-Neck (r)  de Knitting Nature, lo voy a hacer con un Ultra Alpaca que había comprado para otro sweater pero no me gustó como se veía la tela tejida, demasiado suelta, así que cambié de modelo.

The first one was for the Turbulence U-Neck (r) of Knitting Nature, the yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca that I had bought for another sweater but the knitted fabric looked too loose so I changed the design.

La otra muestra es para un par de calcetines, realmente tengo ganas de empezar otros y todavía tengo aquí estambre para 2 pares (incluyendo éste), la pregunta es, que voy a hacer cuándo ya no tenga???

The other swatch was for some socks, I realize I really really want to knit another pair, I still have yarn for this pair plus another, but what I'm going to do when I ran out of yarn???

Ya está uno de los 2 guantes, probablemente al rato empiece el segundo y esperemos que para el fin de semana ya esté el par completito...

I have one glove, I still need to cast on for the second but with a little of luck I'll have a complete pair for the weekend.

Bueno eso es todo, me voy a chambiar, sólo que si no hago un ratito para postear nunca lo voy a hacer, y no quiero eso, besos!

Ayuda!

Hola a todas!, ando en friega con la escuela y no he podido ni responder bien a mis comentarios, de antemano sorry :(.

No he terminado los guantes que empecé la semana pasada, en parte porque decidí ponerles deditos y se me olvida que hay que hacer cuentas y probárselos, y deshacer y luego repetir todo pero el 1o está ya casi terminado y el segundo debería ser rápido, lo malo es que este fin no voy a tener mucho tiempo para tejer pero espero que para la semana que entra pueda enseñarles el par!

El chal que había empezado lo deshice, no por culpa del patrón (que me encanta), sino porque desde mi punto de vista no se veía bien la puntada en el algodón, y he estado viendo en ravelry a ratillos y nomás no encuentro algo, así que la pregunta es, algo que se les ocurra que hacer con algodón "heavy fingering o sport" ~160 m por 50g que sea como bufandita o chal (es lo que pidió mi tía), ayuda por favor!!!

Un mal día

Me acabo de dar cuenta que perdí una de las puntas 5.0 mm de mi kit Denise, así que voy a tener que comprar un par nuevo, tal vez aproveche para pedir unas 3.75 extras, pero me da muchísimo coraje haberla perdido :'(

Y para acabarla hoy me levanté de bastante buen humor y luego bam! me puse de malas en algún momento (supongo que fue cuándo mi madre me hechó bronca por no abrirle la puerta de mi cuarto a Freya pa'que entrara), y no se me ha quitado...

Supongo que comeré, tejeré un rato, comeré chocolate, un té y a trabajar se ha dicho :(

hoy es uno de esos días en los que no quiero hacer nada pero después de no haber trabajado tanto en vacaciones es un lujo que ya no puedo dar, argh!

En asuntos de las agujas el laminaria está terminado!!, sólo voy a comprar alfileres y a hormar!!, sin hormar era bastante pequeño, casi de juguete así que espero que quede un poco más grande cuándo esté seco....

Laminaria it's done!!, only have to block it only need to go buy some pins, hopefully it will grow A lot because right now it's almost toy like in size.

Algo que me dio un poco de coraje es que tenía sólo una madeja de malabrigo laca y por lo tanto poco estambre (~400 m) entonces hice el tamaño pequeño del patrón, y me quedó estambre!!! lo suficiente para al menos haber hecho otra repetición del blossom chart pero bueno, ya no puedo hacer nada y ya estoy viendo que puedo hacer con la mini bolita de estambre que me quedó, estoy pensando en un pañuelo para la cabeza: un micro laminaria, a ver...

I had only one skein of malabrigo lace (~400m) so as the pattern said I did the shoulderette version and I have leftovers!!, I should be able of doing another repeat (at least) of the blossom chart and therefore the shawl would be bigger, but I can't do anything right now so I'm a little angry.... (I'm NOT frogging) I'm thinking knitting a micro laminaria an use it like a handkerchief for the head, will see....

Empecé un chal para mí en navidad, de repente me dieron ganas de usar uno en año nuevo (si una semana antes, a quién se le ocurre), lo bueno es que tuve la sabiduría (jajaja, dejen que me ría) de usar un estambre "worsted" así que va avanzando bien, el plan es que esté terminado a más tardar mañana a medio día para poder hormarlo en la tarde y usar artillería pesada (léase un ventilador) para que esté seco el miércoles en la tarde/noche así que a cruzar los dedos!!!

I started a shawl for me in Christmas day that I want to use in New Year's eve the good part it's that I'm using a worsted weight so maybe it will be finished, the plan it's that it will be completed tomorrow mornign so I can block it in the afternoon an use a fan to dry it for the wednesday, cross fingers..

El patrón que estoy utilizando es el Blue Jeans Lace Leaf Shawl y la verdad está fácil de memorizar así que eso ayuda a no estar viendo tanto el gráfico y con la velocidad de tejido, ya tengo también lista una alpaca para empezar el 1o un gorro para mí, pienso usar la Alpaca de Drops en el Selbu Modern(pdf) y con lo que quedé hacer un par de endpaper mits para mí, creo que después de tejer tanto para otros (3 proyectos, soy una exagerada), quiero verme un poco egoísta, aunque tengo un gorro para un tío, un gorro para una tía y unos calcetines para jp en la lista...

I'm using  Blue Jeans Lace Leaf Shawl  and it's really easy to memorize so it goes fast, I'm planning to star a hat for me (Selbu Modern[pdf]) with the Alpaca Drops in New Years day (?, 1st january) and with the leftovers knit a pair of endpaper mits for me, in the list also a hat for one of my uncles, a hat for my aunt and a pair of socks for jp, in sum too much knitting and too litle time...

con un poco de suerte podré mostrar 2(!!) chales en la semana, por mientras un beso y felíz año!!!

Ayer fue cumpleaños de mi madre, y su regalo es esto:

sí, sólo un calcetín, el segundo tiene como 5 centímetros de pierna, le pregunté si quería la mitad de su regalo o se esperaba a que terminara me dijo que se esperaba... y ahora el problema es que ya estoy harta de tejerlos ( y no ayuda nada que tuve que desmontar 4(!!!) veces hasta que encontré la combinación de "picot edge" que diera la elasticidad necesaria y no quedaran gigantes o miniatura)... cómo que no siento que avancen muy rápido y me canso y tengo que apurarme o se va a juntar con navidad :(

A lonely sock, his brother onley have ~2 inches of the leg, and I asked her and she said she prefer to wait for the complete gift and not only a half, the problem it's that I'm really bored of knitting them, I knit and knit and not feel that I'm doing some progress, and doesn't help the fact that I had to BO 4 (!!) times before I found the perfect picot edge that gives elasticity and the right size :(, and I have to knit it fast or it will be a christmas gift.....

Aparte estoy tejiendo Laminaria y apenas voy en la 2a repitición del blossom chart en mi versión (peque) son 4 las que se requieren y me divierte tejerlo pero no he tenido tiempo de agarrarlo desde el fin de semana, y la verdad no creo que vaya a estar listo para navidad....

I'm also knitting Laminaria and I'm in the 2nd blossom chart of 4, I love to knit it and it's fun but I just couldn't pick it up since the weekend (it's not going to be ready for christmas I fear)

Aparte terminé un gorro para mi padre, voy a ver si consigo fotos modeladas de una persona con cabeza grande (a mi me queda enoorme) si no pues se los presento conmigo modelando :)

Also I finished a hat for my father, I'm going to try to take another pictures but if I can't I'll post it later with me in the hat (it's too big for me)

Para terminar, hoy Paula menciona aquello de que a veces la gente deja de comentar o lee y no comenta... yo soy del segundo grupo en realidad las leo, estoy casi todo el día en la computadora trabajando y peleándome con ella pero a veces leo el post, hago algo, y se me olvida lo que quería decir y así es siempre :(, bueno esto es para decirles que si las leo pero no comento y que voy a tratar de comentar más en el futuro (a ver si poniéndolo aquí cumplo)

Día de muertos

Pues, este fin de semana fue el Día de Muertos y ayer pasé un rato al zócalo a ver las ofrendas y tomar algunas fotos, y cómo ando medio en friega este post es más fotos que otra cosa y sin tejido :'(

This past weekend was Day of the Dead here, and I went to the downtown (zócalo) here to the altars they put, I have a lot of work right know, so this is a almost all pictures post, and sadly with no knitting content :'(

Hay algunas fotos en flickr, no tomé muchas porque el zócalo estaba a reventar y para ser sincera esperaba más de las ofrendas, unas se veían muuy hechas al aventón y sin arte ni chiste, pero bueno...

There are more photos in my flickr, but I really didn't take a lot, the zócalo (downtown) was full and I was a little disappointed about the altars/ofrendas a lot look like there were no effort put in them, like the people that made them didn't think a lot in them...
